Description

Release the kraken. Every ticket is lowered into a sunken grotto as a papier-mâché sea creature on a fishing line: a pufferfish, a jellyfish, an anglerfish or a sea turtle. The player is the kraken, and a whip-fast tentacle slaps each one open. Every slap lands hard. The creature squashes, swings and cracks, the screen shakes, comic hit words burst out and the fish in the background scatter from the shockwave. The third slap smashes it into real tumbling shards. Winning catches spill pearls, gold doubloons and gems that sink and pile up on the sand, so the sea floor fills with treasure as you win. The biggest prize in a set triggers a slow-motion KRAKOOM with a bioluminescent plankton bloom. A losing catch bursts into a cloud of ink, a grumpy hermit crab drops out and scuttles away, and a sad tuba plays. The last catch of every set is the boss: Admiral Gnasher, a giant pirate-shark piñata with an eyepatch, a bicorne hat and a big health bar. Knock him down and the kraken finishes him with Kraken's Embrace, a cinematic close-up where two coils of tentacle wrap and squeeze him until he bursts. Every slap builds the Kraken Rage meter. When it fills, a power-up orb floats in. Tap it and the stage border lights up until the power is spent: - **Super Slap**: one colossal tentacle slam, with a gold ring of light sweeping round the stage. - **Frenzy Slaps**: an eight-hit flurry inside a fast-spinning, flickering hot-pink border. - **Thunder Eel**: lightning strikes the catch inside a cyan border that jolts round and crackles. - **Whirlpool**: the catch spins in a vortex inside a whirling blue border. - **Deep Time**: the whole smash plays in slow motion inside a violet border that turns slowly backwards. Power-ups change how a catch is smashed, never what is inside it.

Documentation

Each press of SLAP reveals exactly one purchased ticket. The tentacle hits the creature three times, it breaks, and the result card springs up before sinking down towards the treasure log. Players can also tap the creature directly: every tap is a slap, and the third tap breaks it and reveals that same next ticket. Tapping beside the creature is a harmless miss. The last ticket in a set, or the only one when a single ticket is bought, is revealed by the boss, Admiral Gnasher. His health bar appears above the stage when he is lowered in. One press of SLAP plays a slap combo and the Kraken's Embrace finishing move and reveals that ticket. Players can also tap him: each tap knocks his health down, and once it is low the finishing move plays and reveals the ticket. No power-up orb is offered while the boss is up. The boss is presentation only and never changes what the ticket wins. Slaps fill the Kraken Rage meter above the SLAP button. When it is full and at least one more catch is waiting, a power-up orb appears. Tapping it arms the power, the SLAP button changes to its move (SUPER!, FRENZY!, ZAP!, SPIN! or SLOW-MO!), and the stage border glows in that power's style until the catch is opened. The next press uses the power on the next ticket, still revealing exactly one result. Power-ups are presentation only: Rafflex decides every outcome before the game loads. Smash all appears while two or more catches remain. It plays the remaining reveals one after another at speed. The treasure log below the stage is a shelf of scallop shells, one per ticket, labelled with its ticket number. As each ticket is revealed its shell flips open into a gold doubloon, an emerald or a ruby for a win, depending on how grand the win is, or a hermit crab for a loss, and the shelf glides to it. Tap any opened shell to see that ticket's prize, value and Site credit label in the plaque beside the shelf, which also keeps the running count of wins. Winning cards show the prize name, its exact formatted value slamming in when the name does not already show it, a Site credit label where it applies, and the prize image when the platform supplies one. How grand a win looks depends only on the prize values the platform supplied in this set of plays. The highest prize gets the jackpot treatment when it is at least twice the median win, or when it is the only win and is worth at least 100. Wins above the median get the big catch treatment. None of this changes an outcome. Sound is on by default: synthesised slaps, bubbles, lightning, treasure clinks, fanfares and the sad tuba. Nothing plays until the player's first tap or SLAP press, and the speaker button in the corner mutes it. With reduced motion enabled, each press reveals instantly, with no shake, particles or continuous animation. Game heading replaces the title. Slap button style can use Kraken purple or the site's primary colour. The underwater scene and the treasure log below it keep their own deep-sea look on light and dark sites. If any artwork fails to load, the game draws simple stand-ins, so every result still shows.

The last catch of every set is now a boss, Admiral Gnasher, a giant pirate-shark piñata on a heavy chain with his own big health bar. Slaps knock his health down and he looks more battered past half health. When he is low, the kraken finishes him with Kraken's Embrace: cinematic bars slide in, the camera closes in, and two coils of tentacle wrap and squeeze him three times until he bursts and reveals the last ticket. One press of SLAP still reveals exactly one ticket, the boss included, and the boss never changes what a ticket wins. No power-up orb is offered while the boss is up. With reduced motion the boss reveals instantly. The SLAP button, counters, result card and closing summary now have a frosted sea-glass look, and an armed power-up now lights the stage with a glowing ring that sweeps round the border in its colour, at its own pace: fast and flickering for Frenzy Slaps, jolting for Thunder Eel, slow and backwards for Deep Time. The SLAP button glows in the same colour. The game no longer uses WebGL, so it runs the same on every device. Sound is now on by default. Nothing plays until the player's first tap or SLAP press, and the speaker button still mutes it.

  2. v1.0.0

    21 Oct 2026

First release of Kraken Smash. It is an underwater reveal game where a kraken's tentacle slaps open papier-mâché sea creatures to reveal each ticket. It includes physics-driven swinging and cracking, shattering shards, sinking treasure that piles up on the sea floor, a slow-motion jackpot with a plankton bloom, an ink cloud and a hermit crab for losses, five power-ups (Super Slap, Frenzy Slaps, Thunder Eel, Whirlpool and Deep Time) charged by a Kraken Rage meter, each with its own animated stage border while active, optional synthesised sound, Smash all, a treasure shelf where every ticket waits as a closed scallop shell and flips open into a doubloon, gem or hermit crab as it is revealed, and a closing summary. Reduced motion reveals instantly. Power-ups change how a catch is smashed, never what is inside it.
